Dear Reader,
one of the most reliable ways for enterprises to get broad media coverage is to have spectacular security leaks in their IT landscape. To avoid this kind of headlines, not only big organizations spend a lot of money and effort on the analysis of the security of their application landscape and on targeted risk management while governments react with new regulations that organizations have to comply with.
But still, news of the loss of customer data or the hacking of existing security systems hit the wires regularly. This shows how difficult it is to stay on top of existing and occurring risks – especially with regards to increasingly complex and constantly changing processes and applications while IT budgets shrink.
That is why the governance and risk management of IT landscapes as well as their compliance with external regulations is not just a task of dedicated departments, but an executive issue for CIOs and CFOs, given that decision makers increasingly are personally liable.
We strongly believe that transparency on today’s IT landscape and the possibility of an impact analysis on tomorrows are essential prerequisites for any IT GRC approach and help to turn a yearly effort into a daily routine.
